CAMHS – Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)

CAMHS provides a free and confidential counselling service for children up to 18 years of age and their families. Services are provided by child, adolescent and family specialists including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, who are experienced in helping children with emotional, psychiatric, behavioural or social difficulties.
We offer a range of services depending on your needs. Services include personalised individual or family counselling appointments, groups for children or information workshops for parents/care-givers.

LIFELINE

LIFELINE provides a 24hr telephone counselling service that is compassionate, non-judgmental, confidential and supportive of people from all walks of life, in need or in crisis.
Counsellors are trained to help with crises in areas such as isolation, relationship difficulties, domestic violence, suicide, youth issues, loss and grief, mental health, child abuse, sexual abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, gambling etc.

LIFELINE has been helping South Australians of all ages, religions and social groups since 1963. In that time, our counsellors have dealt with just about every human problem.

Loss & Grief Camps ANGLICARESA

The Star Bear program is a partnership between Anglicare Loss and Grief Centre.

Star Bear is a grief support program for children aged 5-12. For teenagers up to 17 there is the Star Bound program for  teenagers who are grieving the death of a parent, sibling or significant person.

Children attend a weekend camp conducted by trained mentors/leaders. The programe aims to increase children’s understanding of death and the grieving process, as well as providing them with the opportunity to share their experiences with other children. both camps aee run by proffesionals and volunteairs in the area.

National Twin Loss Support

Providing Twin Loss information to families, and health care professionals, right around the world. The organisation aims to improve the level of awareness and care of these families and is proud to be working in conjunction with other bereavement care organisations.

  • We specialise in providing multiple birth loss information to health care professionals, twin and higher order multiple birth loss families, as well as other bereavement care organisations.

SANDS Stillbirth And Neonatal Death Support (SA)

Sands South Australia offers support to all bereaved parents and relatives who have suffered the death of a baby anytime from conception through to 28 days after birth - this includes, miscarriage, newborn death, stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy and genetic/medically advised termination.

Sands South Australia is a state-wide, self help voluntary organisation run by and for bereaved parents. We receive no government funding and rely heavily on fund-raising efforts and donations. Sands also exist in other States. There is a National Sands body (Sands Australia) to which States belong.

Sands South Australia is a self-help group consisting solely of bereaved parents.

Sands South Australia bring bereaved parents together in a number of ways, through a Newsletter, Support meetings, and over the telephone. Parents who are 'down the track' in their grief, and who have done some training, support those who are just starting to grieve.

Sands South Australia aims to assist parents in their grief and to help them understand the emotions that they are experiencing are normal.

SIDS and Kids (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)

SIDS and Kids provides bereavement support for all sudden unexpected deaths from conception up to and including 6 years of age. The cause of death could be miscarriage, SIDS, accidental death, fast onset illness and stillbirth.

The Compassionate Friends South Australia

Compassionate Friends (SA) is part of a world wide support organisation for bereaved parents. This is regardless of the age of the child at death or the manner of death. Services provided include monthly support groups in 3 metropolitan locations, telephone support to members, a bi-monthly newsletter, a range of brochures and a resource library. A CandleLight service is held in December each year. Some support is also provided to siblings and grandparents.
